Not sure if anyone else caught the Saddleback Church debate, but I was truly in awe at Obama’s terrible performance. People like to paint him as this charismatic young fresh face, but last night’s debate I think proved just the opposite.

First thing I happened to notice was his demeanor. He seemed very uncomfortable and seemed as though he was unable to look directly into the camera or for that matter at the audience. In doing that, he gives the impression as though he was very insincere and wasn’t really being honest with us. Let alone his relentless use of uhh and umm, which made him excruciatingly painful to watch.

The second thing I noticed was his ability to dodge questions and the moderator to just let it slide. For that I am disappointed in Rick Warren. Obama’s lack of actually answering the question is one thing, but Pastor Warren’s allowing him to do so is another. This is his most notable dodge, of which is to a question that is extremely important to many Evangelicals.

Q. Now, let’s deal with abortion. 40 million abortions since Roe v. Wade. You know, as a pastor I have to deal with this all the all of the time. All of the pain and all of the conflicts. I know this is a very complex issue. 40 million abortions. At one point does a baby get human rights in your view?

A. Well, I think that whether you are looking at it from a theological perspective or a scientific perspective, answering that question with specificity, you know, is above my pay grade. But let me just speak more generally about the issue of abortion because this is something obviously the country wrestles with. One thing that I’m absolutely convinced of is there is a moral and ethical content to this issue. So I think that anybody who tries to deny the moral difficulties and gravity of the abortion issue I think is not paying attention. So that would be point number one.

But point number two, I am pro-choice. I believe in Roe v. Wade and come to that conclusion not because I’m pro abortion, but because ultimately I don’t think women make these decisions casually. They wrestle with these things in profound ways, in consultation with their pastors or spouses or their doctors and their family members.

And so for me, the goal right now should be — and this is where I think we can find common ground and by the way I have now inserted this into the democrat party platform is how do we reduce the number of abortions because the fact is that although we’ve had a president who is opposed to abortions over the last eight years, abortions have not gone down.

So wait a minute, Obama. You are a United States Senator, who’s job is to legislate, who also happens to running for the leader of the free world, yet you can’t make up your mind as to when a baby deserves to be given the same rights as those who are out of the womb? So then Obama, I submit this question to you, at what pay grade are you qualified to make such a determination? I mean $165,200 isn’t like it’s pocket change. Also not forgetting about a presidential salary of a wopping $400,000 should he win the presidency in November.

Obama can’t even honestly answer when he feels a baby is a person, how can we trust him to run our country? Yet another reason to reconsider voting for him.

A teacher in Elmira, New York asked her 5th grade class how many of them were Obama fans.

Not really knowing what an Obama fan was, but wanting to be liked by the teacher, all the kids raised their hands. Except for Johnny.

The teacher asked, “Johnny, why did you decide to be different from the rest of the class?”

Johnny explained, “Because I’m not an Obama fan.”

The teacher asked, “Well, Johnny, why aren’t you an Obama fan?”

Johnny explained, “Because I’m a Republican.”

The teacher asked, “Why are you a Republican, Johnny?”

Johnny answered, “Well, my mom’s a Republican and my dad’s a Republican, so I’m a Republican.”

With a smirk that made the class giggle, the teacher asked, “Johnny, if your mom was a moron and your dad was an idiot, what would that make you?”

A huge smile broke out across Johnny’s face. “That,” he happily replied, “would make me an Obama fan!”

By Seema Mehta and Mitchell Landsberg, Los Angeles Times Staff Writers

Parents who lack teaching credentials cannot educate their children at home, according to a state appellate court ruling that is sending waves of fear through California’s home schooling families.

Advocates for the families vowed to appeal the decision to the state Supreme Court. Enforcement until then appears unlikely, but if the ruling stands, home-schooling supporters say California will have the most regressive law in the nation.

“This decision is a direct hit against every home schooler in California,” said Brad Dacus, president of the Pacific Justice Institute, which represents the Sunland Christian School, which specializes in religious home schooling. “If the state Supreme Court does not reverse this . . . there will be nothing to prevent home-school witch hunts from being implemented in every corner of the state of California.”

The institute estimates there are as many as 166,000 California students who are home schooled. State Department of Education officials say there is no way to know the true number.

Unlike at least 30 other states, home schooling is not specifically addressed in California law. Under the state education code, students must be enrolled in a public or private school, or can be taught at home by a credentialed tutor.

The California Department of Education currently allows home schooling as long as parents file paperwork with the state establishing themselves as small private schools, hire credentialed tutors or enroll their children in independent study programs run by charter or private schools or public school districts while still teaching at home.

California does little to enforce those provisions and insists it is the local school districts’ responsibility. In addition, state education officials say some parents home school their children without the knowledge of any entity.

Home schoolers and government officials have largely accepted this murky arrangement.

“This works so well, I don’t see any reason to change it,” said J. Michael Smith, president of the Virginia-based Home School Legal Defense Assn.

The appellate court ruling stems from a case involving Lynwood parents Phillip and Mary Long, who were repeatedly referred to the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services over various allegations, including claims of physical abuse, involving some of their eight children.

All of the children are currently or had been enrolled in Sunland Christian School, where they would occasionally take tests, but were educated in their home by their mother, Phillip Long said.

A lawyer appointed to represent two of the Long’s young children requested that the court require them to physically attend a public or private school where adults could monitor their well-being. A trial court disagreed, but the children’s lawyer appealed to the 2nd District Court of Appeal, which has jurisdiction over Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.

The appellate panel ruled that Sunland officials’ occasional monitoring of the Longs’ home schooling — with the children taking some tests at the school — is insufficient to qualify as being enrolled in a private school. Since Mary Long does not have a teaching credential, the family is violating state laws, the ruling said.

“Parents do not have a constitutional right to home school their children,” wrote Justice H. Walter Croskey in a Feb. 28 opinion signed by the two other members of the district court. “Parents who fail to [comply with school enrollment laws] may be subject to a criminal complaint against them, found guilty of an infraction, and subject to imposition of fines or an order to complete a parent education and counseling program.”

Phillip Long said he believes the ruling stems from hostility against Christians and vowed to appeal to the state Supreme Court.

“I have sincerely held religious beliefs,” he said. “Public schools conflict with that. I have to go with what my conscience requires me.”

Public schools teach such topics as evolution, which Long said he doesn’t believe in. He said his wife spends six hours each day teaching their children reading, writing, math, science, health, physical education, Bible and social studies. Court papers say Mary Long’s education ended at 11th grade.

It’s unclear if the ruling will be enforced, given the likely appeals. Typically, these rulings take effect 30 days after they are issued.

Other organizations that plan to get involved include the Pacific Justice Institute, Home School Legal Defense Assn. and the Home School Assn. of California.

Meanwhile, state Department of Education’s attorneys are reviewing the ruling.

Teachers union officials will also be closely monitoring the appeal. A.J. Duffy, president of United Teachers Los Angeles, said he agrees with the ruling.

“What’s best for a child is to be taught by a credentialed teacher,” he said.

While many educators and officials remained unfamiliar with the ruling Tuesday, news about it has been sweeping websites and blogs devoted to home schooling. Organizations have been getting tense phone calls from parents worried that they will be targeted.

Families who home school includethose whose religious beliefs conflict with public schools and those whose children are in the entertainment industry or have other time-consuming activities that require them to study at an individualized pace.

Glenn and Kathleen, a Sacramento-area couple who requested that their last name not be used for fear of prosecution, home school their 9-year-old son Hunter because their Christian beliefs would be contradicted in a public school setting, Glenn said. He is troubled by the idea that his son would be exposed to teachings about evolution, homosexuality, same-sex marriage and sex education .

“I want to have control over what goes in my son’s head, not what’s put in there by people who might be on the far left who have their own ideas about indoctrinating kids,” he said.

If the ruling takes effect, Glenn vowed to move his family out of state. “If I can’t home school my son in California, we’re going to have to end up leaving California. That’s how important it is to me.”

“‘Parents do not have a constitutional right to home school their children,’ wrote Justice H. Walter Croskey in a Feb. 28 opinion signed by the two other members of the district court.” - I’m sorry, what? Barry F. made a very interesting point over at MM.com about how a woman’s right too choose is a constitutional right, but yet homeschooling your kids isn’t? Huh?? If that isn’t a double standard, I sure don’t know what is.

Seriously, we are so consumed with the celerities, it isn’t even funny. I mean we care more about what Britney Spears is doing to mess up her life then what is happening in the world. We like it when we see Ellen DeGeneres crying over some dog drama. This just disgusting.. Come on people! Wake up and smell the coffee. We need to get our priorities in the right perspective! There are so many more things to be informed about, so many more pressing issues to be worried about. For instance how much of a potential threat Iran will pose when it acquires nuclear weapons.

Yeah..notice I said when, not if…It’s really only a matter of time. We need to stop playing partisan politics and come together as Americans to battle this new enemy. United we stand, divided we fall. We need to send a clear message to Iran that we will not tolerate this from them.

President Bush: We got a leader in Iran who has announced that he wants to destroy Israel. So I told people that if you`re interested in avoiding World War III, it seems like you ought to be interested in preventing them from having the knowledge necessary to make a nuclear weapon.

Source: http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0710/18/gb.01.html

Just wow. That from our own President. If we want to prevent this World War III from happening, the time to act is now. We need to work with the world to toughen the sanctions on them to prevent an all out war. COME ON! We need to focus on the important stuff. Focus people… focus!

Well now that the smoke has cleared, now that everything has sorta died down. I really fell like I need to voice my feelings on the whole matter. When I posted my original blog post, I wasn’t in the clearest of mind frames. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying I’m giving in and accepting the apology, but as I said, I just feel the need to voice feelings on the whole situation. Not just this one conversation.

When I left MyBB, I thought I was on good terms. I wanted to keep in contact with the friends I thought I made. I wanted nothing to change, it wasn’t suppose to turn out this way. However once it became public that I joined another bulletin board, I was pretty much treated like a traitor. Yes, I wasn’t at MyBB anymore, but does that really justify that treatment? I was pretty much told I was a lair and that I didn’t have the “guts” to give the real reason why I left. Trust me, it gets worse, but I won’t even touch that. Now does that really sound fair? I have made it pretty clear I left because I wasn’t feeling the project anymore. It had nothing to do with iBB. MyBB and I simply grew apart, is that really so hard to believe? For some people it’s pretty obvious that is too simple of a reason. Why is that? I simply don’t know.

What really annoys to no end is my- yes MY- character and reputation were being not only questioned, but bashed publicly. I’m sorry, but just because I’m not at MyBB doesn’t make me any less of a honest or trustworthy person. I most certainly don’t steal code and am floored at that notion. People want to call me names and swear at me, go for it, but don’t EVER, EVER call me a thief. That is just not true and just shows you have a lack of respect for me. In the apology letter, what got me was the excuse, “I’ve been under a lot of stress personally and professionally.” Can you really justify what was said about me with that? Heck can you even justify it at all? Now if he had said something like, “I’m really sorry for what I said, it was completely uncalled for and I didn’t think it all thru. Words truly can not express how sorry I truly am.” Maybe I would of been inclined to accept it right then and there, but it didn’t strike me as very sincere. I felt like if I didn’t post my original blog post I wouldn’t of gotten that email in the first place.

Maybe I’m just being petty, but that’s how I feel.

I was away yesterday and today it was brought to my attention that there was a big blow up on the #mybb channel. Things were said that really pissed me off and here is my venue to rant and expose the truth of the whole matter. The way I’m going to do this is quote little experts and tell you how I feel about what has been said.

<Tikitiki> why the hell are you here when your developing a competing software?
<Complicated> Talking to you guys
<Complicated> Like i always have
<Complicated> I hold no ill feelings…

First of all, who gives a rats ass, last I checked it was a free country. So what, Mike has every right to be on that channel and oh fucking well if you don’t like it.

<Tikitiki> Well, things don’t set well with you folks down at ImperialBB. You can blame Christian for that. Joins up on our team, takes our ideas leaves, and then puts our ideas in ImperialBB

For the record I don’t steal code, that’s just wrong and why would I steal your ideas? I don’t even owe you an explanation for that, seriously. How would this be any different then MyBB taking ideas from vB or IPB? You guys do it all the time, so get off your fucking high horse. I thought you were my friend, but I guess I was wrong on that. I haven’t used any of your “ideas” in iBB, so unless you have some proof to back up that wild accusation, leave me the fuck alone.

<Complicated> I seriously didnt think this was going to be a big deal
<Tikitiki> It won’t be as long as you don’t ever bring up ImperialBB again
<Bobby> considering Christian joined you, it seems so
<Complicated> He didnt join me
<Complicated> He joined the project
<Complicated> I asked he accepted
<Complicated> this was after he left

Damn straight, I didn’t leave MyBB for iBB. I was given an offer I couldn’t resist AFTER I left MyBB.

<Complicated> But if it will make you more comfortable Tiki… i will not come back here.
<Tikitiki> I’m not saying that
<Tikitiki> I never even knew you were on ImperialBB
<Tikitiki> Just that ahole, Christian.

It’s been public for a while, so get with the program. Anyways, ahole huh? Sure you aren’t talking about yourself? Regardless, you have the audacity to call me that. Tiki, you are the ahole and so much more.

<Tikitiki> Pisses me off
<Tikitiki> Christian, does

LMAO. You piss me off, you can’t even tell all this shit to my face. You need to seriously grow up.

You know, I really glad I left MyBB. Now I don’t have to deal with the childish crap and the drama of it all. The MyBB staff should look at themselves(especially tiki) when they ask why I left. It’s pretty apparent that he has no self control and that he can’t even act in a civil grown up way.

Ever worked on something and mentally planned on how to execute your desired task. Then discovered the way you originally planned didn’t work out how you anticipated? Next, you return to the drawing board, debate on using other methods to accomplish the task. You go back and forth and finally decide on something. After you finally have made your decision, you start to second guess yourself. You start to think, of how that will fail and get very discouraged. I I hate when that happens…. Coding can be a pain in the butt. However, while I was on one of my “breaks,” I think I came up with a solution that will work! Wish me good luck!

Normally I’m not all that big on Microsoft products, but WLM has a brand new advertising revenue donation program that is worth checking out. It’s called “I’M.” To quote the I’M website:

i’m is a new initiative from Windows Live Messenger™. Every time you start a conversation using i’m, Microsoft shares a portion of the program’s advertising revenue with some of the world’s most effective organizations dedicated to social causes. We’ve set no cap on the amount we’ll donate to each organization. The sky’s the limit…….So any time you have an i’m™ conversation using Windows Live Messenger, you help address the issues you feel most passionate about, including poverty, child protection, disease, and environmental degradation. It’s simple. All you have to do is join and start an instant messaging conversation. We’ll handle the donation.

Sooo. Everybody go to your WLM client and add *komen to your name! Remember, it’s for a great cause!
